Hello!
I am a woman living with several chronic illnesses in Ontario, Canada. I am a researcher by trade. Fortunately, research skills have assisted in the necessity of learning about my own health and advocating for myself and others. Sister Chronic has arisen out of my need to consolidate my experience, research, and advocacy to help others. I am learning how EDS and my other conditions feed off each other, how one will worsen and trigger a flare in another. I still have some good days and am able to work, fortunately, which helps get me through the bad days. A combination of medication, meditation, mindfulness, self compassion, and prioritizing rest have all helped. Slowing down, without a doubt, has helped a lot.
I have other interests that will creep into this website from time to time. I love animals and nature. I grew up in the woods and will eventually return. I share my space with a wonderful rez rescue dog and several dozen houseplants. I have a bunch of hobbies, including gardening, reading, writing, collecting rocks, crafts, music, psychology, crime, and a general fascination with spooky stuff. Over the course of my chronic illnesses, I have become interested in the benefits and evolution of medical cannabis and other “alternative” treatments. There is more, of course, but I’ll leave it at that.
